I am a 200 hour YA-RYT and Level 1 Yoga Tune Up® teacher. I earned a degree in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. After living and working in NYC for many years as a graphic designer, my husband and 10-month old son moved to Nyack, NY. In 1998, I discovered Yoga in an attempt not to lose my “new mommy” mind and I was hooked. My exploration into Yoga has included Kundalini, Iyengar-inspired yoga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga. Both the physical aspects of asana and the thoughtful, meditative parts of the yogic path dovetailed perfectly with my evolving Zen Buddhist practice.
I also attended Pratt Institute for Communications Design. During downtime I spent hours studying (and reproducing drawings from) Grey’s Anatomy. I was more fascinated with the mechanics of the body than drawing it, the drawing helped me understand it better. Fascination with the intelligent and beautiful design of the human body and it's interconnectedness with our mind has shaped my practice and teaching. Yoga Tune Up® has given me the tools to teach students how to create health and increased mobility in their own bodies.
I'm also a cyclist and member of the Gruppo Sportivo-Gran Fondo New York cycling team. Yoga has helped me to develop concentration, focus, balance, flexibility, patience and strength on the bike. Yoga Tune Up® has increased the speed and effectiveness of recovery as well as performance for both me and my athletic students.
